Word Problems: A Differentiated Early Elementary Curriculum

0 Ratings

Do you have a diverse class? Are you teaching word problems? Lucky for you, here is a packet made just for your class! Begin with a pre-assessment (and rubric) to determine what level of word problems are appropriate for each of your students. Then, give your students their own problem solving books to work out their word problems – they will feel ownership over the process because they will choose the word problems to put on the pages and solve. Give your students a wide selection of word problems that meet their level (there are four levels of word problems included and a curricular modification if you have a student on alternate curriculum). All students will happily be working on filling up their word problem books using the problems that meet their level according to the pre-assessment you conducted. Differentiated instruction at its best!
