Sensory Adjective Exploration Activity

0 Ratings

Create sensory exploration bags to develop students’ descriptive language around taste, touch, smell, sound, and sight.  Teachers guide students through writing sensory adjectives for the experiences they have with each of the five sensory bags.  Students document their experiences by recording interesting, juicy adjectives to describe the items from each bag.  Recording sheets are provided at multiple levels: students can record many adjectives, students can record a couple of adjectives, students can record one adjective and the noun, students can use augmentative communication tool to select describing words and/or select the noun, or students can select from provided picture choices.  Bag labels are also included in the file.  Teachers can choose their own sensory experiences for students; some suggestions are tic tacs or hot Cheetos for taste, different textured materials for touch, tea or aromatic spices for smell, shakers or bells for sound, and holograms or visual toys for sight.
