Polar Bears are fascinating creatures who live in an ecosystem that is rapidly changing as the world’s climate changes. Students will learn more about the lives, habits, and environment of polar bears as they practice reading and extracting information from a non-fiction text. Students will create their own fact books as they read Where Do Polar Bears Live?. Fact books are included at two levels: one for students to write sentences and another for students to build sentences using an augmentative communication tool. There are also two companion texts to support students’ reading of the text: one text is simplified to reduce the amount of text on a page and another contains simplified concepts.
Note: The text Where Do Polar Bears Live? is a companion text in the Journey’s Second Grade Curriculum. It is also available for purchase on Amazon.com.
