Biography Writing Packet

Use this biography writing packet to guide students through a step-by-step writing process to develop an expository text using their own research.  Students will review the elements of expository writing, brainstorm their ideas and complete researching, drafting, editing, and publishing for their piece about a notable African American leader (the packet is editable if you have a different subject category for the biographies).  The packet includes a pacing guide for 3 weeks of daily lessons and activities.  Second grade standards are listed on the back cover but these materials could be used in multiple grade levels as well.
