Playground Polygons

0 Ratings

Take your geometry lesson outside as students look for polygons on the playground and make real world calculations about the perimeter, area, circumference, etc. of the shapes that they find.  This is an excellent opportunity to conduct a review of two-dimensional shapes, measurement strategies, and geometric calculations.  Students will enjoy having an outdoor math lesson where they get to collaborate with each other and take a new look at a familiar part of their campus.  Strategic partnerships and peer supports can make this activity accessible to most of your students and the included modified version can be seamlessly integrated for students on alternate curriculum.
